Ibó Community

In our diocese in João Pessoa (Paraíba), when the insertion work began, after the Second Vatican Council, Bishop José Maria Pires invited the sisters to leave the great works, schools, hospitals and live among the people, to be with them. they, become one of them, living, participating in their lives, their struggles, achievements, disappointments, sadness and joys, being with the people, helping them to grow in faith, in the awareness of their rights, helping them to be protagonists of their life, their history, helping them to empower them. The bishop advised that the small communities inserted would stay for six to nine years, so they would be itinerant. Therefore, after seven years, we saw that the Ibó community could already walk without our physical presence, because during that time it was growing and taking over its responsibilities and its growth as a community. Therefore, we decided to close the community so that it could continue its growth itself.

We opened a new community in the city of Ibimirim in the Boa Vista neighborhood. The Dalva and Lusinete sisters are responsible for this new mission area.
