In October 1999, the Congregation of the Sisters of Charity of Our Mother of Mercy, in Brazil, began the Dom Helder Câmara Association.

It is made up of four sectors:
- the Mother School of Mercy, which develops a work with Early Childhood Education, children from 3 to 5 years old;
- Mother Michele Educational Center, with Elementary School I, covering grades 1 to 5;
- Dom Joannes Zwijsen House, with Sports and Cultural Workshops, such as: Ballet, Marching Band, Dances, Sports (Volleyball, Futsal, Handball, Recreation and Judo), Informatics, Literacy (School Reinforcement) and Music (Instrumental and vocal);
- and the Living Center for the Elderly with moments of Spirituality, Craft classes, Gymnastics and Literacy for adults.
