Kapittel

The third day of our General Chapter began with an inspiring opening celebration prepared by the USA province. Then, after circulating the summary of yesterday’s meeting in the four languages, we were delighted to hear and see the final three presentations from our sisters out of England/Ireland, Brazil and USA. The feedback from so many of the chapter members was that they found the presentations so moving and were deeply grateful to be SCMM sisters. We hope to make the presentations available to all our sisters in the different parts of the congregation.

We then focused our attention on charism and mission with both Sr. Dorine and Sr. Hermin delivering some short and very interesting presentations. Then we worked together in international groups to discuss our charism and mission. We talked together about the fire which animates us and how we could re-ignite it so that it burns as brightly as it did when the congregation first took root in the early days. We also shared our ideas about formation and identified many other themes which could be further explored in the future. The challenge will be sifting through so many ideas so that we make some good recommendations around charism and mission in the future.

After tea we took the first steps to elect the new general council. The day ended with the Eucharist where Tjeu spoke about the various gifts of the Holy Spirit which St. Paul writes about so vividly in his letters.
